Our Imaging department at London Bridge Hospital offers patients the latest technologies and equipment available today for a non-invasive assessment of the function and structure of the cardiovascular system. This enables our specialist radiologists and cardiologists to interpret scans and generate reports about the function of the heart. The multidisciplinary team will carry out in-depth consultations with patients to better determine the most appropriate tailored individual patient pathway.
Our Imaging Tests Include:
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is form of non-invasive diagnostic scanning that helps physicians diagnose and treat medical conditions. Cardiac MRI images allow physicians to better determine the presence of certain diseases that may not be as easily seen with other imaging methods such as x-ray or ultrasound. Cardiac MRI images are readily obtainable in most patients in a 30-60 minute assessment. Cardiac MRI offers the most accurate assessment of ventricular function and allows for direct visualisation of myocardial scarring or fibrosis, such as previous myocardial infarction.
Cardiac MRI imaging is also performed to help:
MRI images of the heart can show unique information that some other tests are unable to show. This detail makes MRI an invaluable tool in early diagnosis and evaluation of cardiac abnormalities, especially those involving the heart muscle. Cardiac MRI allows physicians to quickly examine the structures and function of the heart and major vessels, without the risks associated with traditional, more invasive procedures or ionising radiation.
