Associate Professor Povlsen was until recently the most senior Hand & Upper Limb Surgeon at the world-renowned Guy's Hospital, where he had been a consultant for close to 20 years. Due to high demand for his services he is now in full time private practice at  London Bridge Hospital where he has been for more than a decade, during which time he has been receiving complex hand and upper extremity cases from within the UK as well as internationally.

Associate Professor Povlsen has an active research interest and has published more than 60 research articles, books and clinical comments as well as having given numerous lectures in both the UK and abroad. His clinical interest is related to his research: in particular nerve entrapment conditions, wrist pain, tumours, Dupuytren's Contracture and work-related upper limb disorders
