Dr Anthony Hammond

Dr Tony Hammond MD FRCP is a Consultant Physician and Rheumatologist at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust.  After university in Edinburgh, he trained in General Medicine and Rheumatology at The Royal National Hospital (Bath), Bart’s Hospital, London and doctoral research in SLE at The Hammersmith, London. 

In addition to experience in General Medicine and all aspects of general Rheumatology, he is also expert in interventional spinal pain management.  Guided by the standards of the International Spinal Intervention Society (ISIS)

Dr Hammond follows accurate anatomical diagnosis with a range of techniques including targeted (transforaminal) epidural injections, lysis of epidural adhesions by guided catheters and endoscopic methods, decompression of bulging discs by needle based (coblation) technology and radiofrequency treatments, to treat a wide variety of acute and chronic neck, back and radiating limb pain (eg sciatica) problems.

He is active in research and teaching and is Chairman of the Kent CLRN, on the European Committee of ISIS, and co-Chair of the British Pain Interventional Research Group.
