Dr Georg Auzinger
Dr Georg Auzinger is a Consultant and Honorary Senior Lecturer in Intensive Care Medicine at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, London. Doctor Auzinger graduated from the Medical School of the University of Innsbruck, Austria, in 1990.
He subsequently undertook specialty training in Internal Medicine in Austria, followed by Specialist Intensive Care training at the Alfred Hospital Melbourne, Australia, a quaternary referral institution for Major Trauma, Heart and Lung Transplantation, Extracorporeal Cardiac and Respiratory Assist, Burns and Hyperbaric Medicine.
In 2000 he was awarded the European Diploma of Intensive Care Medicine and was appointed as a Consultant Intensivist at King’s College Hospital General and Liver ICU. He has been the Lead Clinician for the Liver ICU since 2007.
Doctor Auzinger has special interests in extracorporeal cardio-respiratory assist, acute liver failure, liver transplantation, ARDS, fungal infection and transthoracic and transoesophageal echocardiography in Critical Care.
He is currently the Director of the ECMO service for severe cardio-respiratory failure at King’s College Hospital.
Doctor Auzinger has published widely in the field of Liver Diseases in the ICU, on cardiovascular haemodynamics in Critical Care, ARDS, ECMO and fungal diseases in Critical Care and following Liver Transplantation.
He is PTEeXAM board certified for Perioperative Transoesophageal Echocardiography and leading on Critical Care Echocardiography training at King’s College Hospital.
Acute liver failure, liver transplantation, decompensated liver disease, right heart failure and pulmonary hypertension, ECMO, cardiac diagnostics in liver disease, transthoracic and transoesophageal critical care echocardiography, management of complicated hepatobiliary disease.
