Profile	Dr George Mikhaeel is consultant in Clinical Oncology in Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital since 2001 and head of department since September 2007. He qualified from Mansoura Medical School in Egypt in 1988. He came to the UK on a scholarship at University College London to continue research in cancer treatment. He started formal training in the UK in 1995 and trained in Guy’s and St Thomas’, UCLH & Mount Vernon Hospital. Dr Mikhaeel specialises in the treatment of Lymphomas and Colorectal (bowel) cancer. He specialises in both chemotherapy and radiotherapy and in his NHS practice, he provides clinical oncology service for lymphoma for the whole of South East London Cancer Network (6 hospitals). His research interests include use of PET scanning to individualise treatment in Lymphoma and use of modern radiotherapy techniques to improve treatment success and reduce side effects. He sits on Lymphoma Working Group of the National Cancer Research Institute and leads (Chief Investigator) a national study in Lymphoma and various other local studies. .
