Dr Giorgio Lambru is a Consultant Neurologist and and Honorary Senior Lecturer in Neurology. He specialises in headache and facial pain disorders, and is one of the few neurologists in the country who has been formally trained in headache neurology (4 years) and who has completed a headache fellowship, with a PhD in headache medicine.
Dr Lambru pioneered the first and only fast track cluster headache clinic in the United Kingdom. He runs a large multidisciplinary complex facial pain and trigeminal neuralgia clinic; He runs one of the largest Botox and greater occipital nerve blocks services in the UK and one of the largest neurostimulation services for difficult-to-treat headaches in the UK.
Dr Lambru gained his degree in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Milan (Italy), training in Neurology at the University-Hospital of Parma (Italy), when he initially developed his interest in Headache medicine. As part of his training, he collaborated clinically and academically with the Headache Centre of the University of Parma from 2005 to 2009, actively involved in clinical research in primary headache disorders. In 2010 he undertook a one-year clinical fellowship within the Headache group at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery and subsequently completed a PhD degree in clinical Neurology at the Institute of Neurology, UCL in the diagnosis and treatment of SUNCT, SUNA and trigeminal neuralgia. He subsequently obtained his PhD at the Institute of Neurology, UCL, London, with a study on trigeminal neuralgiform headache and facial pain disorders.
Dr Lambru has authored a number of scientific publications and presented at national and international headache conferences. He is involved in clinical research in headache and facial pain as well as clinical trials in new migraine, cluster headache and trigeminal neuralgia treatments. He collaborates with the Headache laboratory within the Wolfson CARD-King's College London in preclinical migraine research. He is a council member of of the British Association for the Study of Headache (BASH UK) and he is in the Advisory Board of the Trigeminal Neuralgia Association UK.
