| Profile | Dr Sanna was appointed as a Consultant Rheumatologist at the Louise Coote Lupus Unit, St Thomas' Hospital in 2008, having previously worked as a Consultant Rheumatologist at the Homerton University Hospital since 2003. Dr Sanna qualified at the University of Rome in 1991 and did his specialist training in Rheumatology at the University of Cagliari, Italy. He completed his PhD in 2000 and was elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (London) in 2006. Having formerly trained in the Lupus Unit at St Thomas' under Professor Graham Hughes, he has a special interest in connective tissue diseases, in particular systemic lupus erythematosus, antiphospholipid syndrome and myositis. His research and publications relate to clinical manifestations and management of neurologic disease in lupus and antiphospholipid syndrome.
