Consultant Rheumatologist

Jon Houghton qualified from St.Marys Hospital Medical School, London, in 1996. He undertook specialist training in Rheumatology between 2000-2006. During his training he undertook specialist clinics in Sports Medicine at the Olympic Centre Harrow, the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital and specialist Musculoskeletal Ultrasound clinics at Charing Cross Hospital. He gained a distinction in the University College London Sport and Exercise Medicine Diploma in 2005 and was awarded his Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training in Rheumatology and General Internal Medicine in 2006.

Jon is currently the lead consultant for the Lower Limb Rehabilitation Unit at the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre, Headley Court. He is an examiner and Honorary Senior Lecturer in Sports medicine at the University of Wales Institute Cardiff (UWIC). He has worked with the Wales Football Association International Team and Surrey County Cricket Club. He also sits on the Specialist Advisory Committee in Sport and Exercise Medicine.

Jon has a wide spectrum of experience including NHS rheumatology, military injury rehabilitation and elite level sports medicine, enabling him to treat a wide range of musculoskeletal complaints.
