Dr Simon Hughes
Dr Hughes leads the Clinical Oncology Research and Development Team at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals. His research interests include tumour motion, radiotherapy dose escalation and the combination of novel agents with radiotherapy. He has been involves in several clinical trials in this field and is on the Trial Management Group for 2 UK multicentre trials. He has published many papers and abstracts. He is currently the Director for South East London Clinical Oncology Registrar Training Programme and is a member of the Editorial Panel for the British Journal of Urology International, as well as Oncology Council Member for the Royal Society of Medicine.
Dr Hughes trained at Guy's and St Thomas' Medical School. His specialist training in Clinical Oncology included posts at The Middlesex Hospital, University College London Hospitals, and Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals. He spent over 2 years working in the Imaging Sciences Laboratories at Kings College London, and the Centre for Medical Image Computing at University College London developing novel radiotherapy techniques for the treatment of mobile tumours. He is currently part of a research team introducing new technology into radiotherapy planning and delivery for Urological Cancers.
