Consultant Rheumatologist

Toby Garrood is a Consultant Rheumatologist at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. He qualified from Guy’s and St Thomas’ Medical School and trained in rheumatology in London and the South East. He gained his MSc in rheumatology from Kings College London in 2003 and PhD from the University of London in 2009.

He has extensive experience in the management of inflammatory arthritis (including rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis), osteoarthritis, localised and widespread musculoskeletal pain as well as in joint and soft-tissue injection. 


Dr Garrood has particular interests in the use of musculoskeletal ultrasound in the management of inflammatory arthritis and the multidisciplinary management of fibromyalgia.  His current research interests are in inflammatory arthritis, imaging and fibromyalgia. He also has a strong interest in medical education and has significant involvement at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
