Dr Toby Garrood
Dr Toby Garrood qualified in medicine in 1995 from Guy's and St Thomas' Medical School and completed his specialist training in rheumatology in 2009. During this time he gained an MSc in rheumatology from King's College London and completed his PhD in the study of inflammatory arthritis. He has been a full-time consultant rheumatologist at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals since 2009.
Dr Garrood has extensive experience in all aspects of general rheumatology including rheumatoid and psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, osteoarthritis and gout as well as soft tissue and regional joint problems including neck and back pain and injection treatments. He has a particular interest in generalised widespread pain and fibromyalgia for which he runs specialist clinics in the NHS.
His research interests include ultrasound and novel imaging techniques in inflammatory arthritis, and the management of chronic widespread pain. He also has extensive involvement in medical education both at undergraduate and postrgraduate level at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals and King's College London.
