| Profile | Mr Joseph Nunoo-Mensah was appointed as a Consultant Colorectal & Laparoscopic Surgeon at King's College Hospital, London in 2008. He graduated from the University of Nottingham in 1993 where he was awarded a Bachelor of Medical Science in 1991 and a Bachelor of Medicine & Surgery degree in 1993. He completed a substantial portion of his basic surgical training at Oxford and higher surgical training in Manchester. In 1997, he was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in England.
Following his United Kingdom surgical training, Mr Nunoo-Mensah obtained advanced sub-specialised training in colorectal, laparoscopic and pelvic floor surgery at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, California, USA and the Mayo Clinic, Phoenix, Arizona, USA.
In order to explore the increasing complexity of the law relating to healthcare, Mr Nunoo-Mensah obtained a Masters Degree in the Legal Aspects of Medical Practice from Cardiff University in 2003.
Mr Nunoo-Mensah has performed substantial research in colorectal diseases and has published widely in surgical journals and contributed to chapters in major surgical textbooks in colon and rectal surgery. He has also performed a number of podium and poster presentations at prestigious international colorectal society meetings such as the American College of Surgeons Meetings.
Currently Mr Nunoo-Mensah is a trainer on the National Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery Training Programme and actively also contributes to postgraduate surgical education nationall and internationally. |
