| Profile | Mr Rajab Kerwat is a consultant general, gastrointestinal and laparascopic surgeon at South London Healthcare NHS Trust. He qualified from Alfateh University Medical School in Tripoli, Libya in 1988.
Following on, Mr Kerwat underwent comprehensive surgical training over twelve years in London, Cardiff and Tokyo. He was appointed as consultant surgeon in 2001 at Queen Mary's Hospital.
Since qualifying, Mr Kerwat has been working hard to provide his patients with the best possible care. This includes adopting a continuous development profile which involves regular update and development of his academic and technical skills.
Mr Kerwat is also an advanced laparoscopic surgeon performing many complex keyhole surgical procedures, such as anti reflux, complex hiatus hernia surgery and laparascopic colorectal surgery.
Mr Kerwat also has vast experience in the subject of laparoscopic cholecystectomy and has published several articles on the topic. He uniquely combines laparoscopic/keyhole and endoscopic ERCP skills in the management of complicated gall bladder and bile duct stones and pancreatitis.
Mr Kerwat provides several advanced laparoscopic surgical procedures in his NHS and private practice hospitals including laparoscopic splenectomy, laparoscopic incisional hernia repair, laparoscopic colorectal surgery and most recently single incision laparoscopic abdominal surgery (SILS) for cholecystectomy, hernia repair, appendicectomy and right hemicolectomy.
Mr Kerwat is a recognised trainer in general and laparoscopic surgery and is a surgical tutor at The Royal College of Surgeons core surgical training programme. |
