| Profile | Sam Gidwani graduated from King's College Hospital, London in 1995 and trained in surgery and orthopaedics in London and Bristol. He spent two years carrying out specialist fellowships at hand surgery units in Oxford, Derby and Brisbane, during which he received training in advanced techniques including wrist arthroscopy, the management of complex hand and upper limb trauma, and microsurgery. He then served as a consultant at the renowned Pulvertaft Hand Centre, Derby before commencing as a consultant hand and wrist surgeon at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals in 2009. He has been awarded the BSSH postgraduate diploma in hand surgery.
Mr. Gidwani’s practice is focused on the management of hand and wrist problems - this includes working with the plastic surgery department at St. Thomas’ Hospital as part of the regional hand trauma service.
Mr. Gidwani treats the full range of adult hand and wrist conditions at London Bridge Hospital, in many cases working closely with specialist hand therapy colleagues, and using non-operative modalities of treatment where appropriate. He also runs a one-stop diagnostic carpal tunnel clinic on a weekly basis, with consultant neurophysiologist Dr. Purves.
He is involved in training junior surgeons as a member of the Royal College of Surgeons Advanced Hand and Wrist faculty, and in 2011 co-convened the first operative hand trauma course to be held at St. Thomas’.
