Mr Bassi trained in medicine in Manchester. After gaining the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons England he trained in neurosurgery in Nottingham. This was followed by a Fellowship at the Necker Hospital in Paris and the Montefiore Hospital in New York with emphasis on Paediatric and Craniofacial Neurosurgery. He then worked as a paediatric neurosurgical fellow in Oxford. He took up post as a Consultant in Adult and Paediatric Neurosurgery at King's College Hospital where with Mr Chandler he provides the tertiary paediatric neurosurgical service to South East London, Kent and most of Sussex.

Mr Bassi has an interest in both adult and paediatric patients, and operates as much on the head as on the spine. In addition to his expertise in the full range of Cranial and Spinal Neurosurgery (including all areas of degenerative spine including disc replacement surgery and minimally invasive spinal surgery) his particular area of interest is paediatric neurosurgery; including brain tumours, hydrocephalus, spinal tumours, spina bifida and spasticity (Baclofen Pumps).  In addition he has special expertise in treating Chiari malformations/syringomyelia.

General neurosurgery, back pain, sciatica, arm and neck pain, spinal surgery, lumbar and cervical disc degeneration, disc replacement, brain and spine tumours, hydrocephalus, endoscopy, paediatric neurosurgery, baclofen pumps, headaches, facial pain, chiari, syringomyelia.
