Revamped Outpatients Centre opens at Docklands

06 October 2016

HCA Healthcare UK’s outpatients centre in the heart of Canary Wharf has reopened this week after renovation and expansion work to better cater for local office workers. HCA Healthcare UK at Docklands, operated by London Bridge Hospital, is designed to provide local office workers with convenient and speedy access to high-quality care and treatments.

Services onsite include private GP and dental care services, making it easier for workers to maintain their routine appointments. Same day diagnostics and imaging services are also available, including MRI scans, ultrasound scans and X-Rays. The centre also caters for sports injuries, including a newly expanded specialist knee unit where patients will be able to see orthopaedic specialists for advice and treatment on knee problems such as meniscal injuries, anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) damage and kneecap instability.

The centre opened in 2004 to offer workers in the area quality healthcare on their doorstep.

Miranda Dodd, chief operating officer at London Bridge Hospital said:

“We are always trying to improve access to our healthcare services, which are designed with our patients in mind. We recognise that people are increasingly time-poor, work long hours and don’t always put their health first, but we are trying to make it easier to combine the two to help improve people’s wellbeing and ensure a healthier workforce for local businesses.”

Mr Howard Ware, consultant orthopaedic surgeon, said:

"A healthy lifestyle and fitness regime can occasionally lead to muscle and joint related issues. It is important to deal with these problems in a timely and efficient manner, assessed by doctors and therapists with experience in these areas. To that end we are delighted to bring our specialist orthopaedic services to patients in this area, a truly specialist service in the heart of this busy community."
