The 24-hour Critical Care Unit provides dedicated, continuous, specialised care to critically ill patients with a variety of medical or surgical conditions who require complex multi-organ support. The unit has a total of 15 beds, 10 of which are in individual rooms and one is a sophisticated and dedicated respiratory isolation room.

London Bridge Hospital is the largest private critical care provider between the South bank of the Thames in Southwark and the South East of England, including Kent and East and West Sussex. The Critical Care Unit is staffed by a dynamic and motivated multi-disciplinary team of Consultant Intensivists, Critical Care Resident Medical Officers, Critical Care Nurses, Pharmacists, Physiotherapist, Dieticians and Nurses specialising in the management of acute pain.

The patients in our Critical Care Unit have 24-hour access to non-invasive and advanced mechanical ventilation, modern continuous haemodynamic monitoring systems and different modalities of renal replacement therapy as well as a modern and efficient radiology department and, when appropriate, referral to consultants from the full range of medical and surgical specialities. We also specialise in weaning patients off mechanical ventilation and have access to the latest diagnostic technologies and drug therapies.

The Critical Care Unit also participates in ICNARC Intensive Care National Audit Research Centre.

The Critical Care Unit’s electronic documentation system ICIP (IntelliVue Clinical Information Portfolio) is a clinical system improving workflow and clinical documentation. London Bridge Hospital is the first private hospital to use the ICIP system.
