Day Surgery

London Bridge Hospital’s Day Surgery Unit is designed specifically for patients who do not need to stay in hospital overnight, it is a dynamic and highly efficient unit with exceptional staff providing a flexible mix of surgical and endoscopy procedures, the department can also accommodate inpatient major procedures and complex cases. 

The department are very proud to be one of the only private hospitals in the UK to have a Pelvic Assessment Unit, they are also extremely pleased to announce they are the only private hospital in the South of England to have an Endobronchial Ultrasound Service (EBUS), for further details on the EBUS please click here

Many types of surgery are performed, using either general or local anesthesia.  Common procedures that take place in our Day Surgery Unit range from minor “lumps and bumps” to complex ENT procedures, minor and complex gynaecology or general surgical procedures including laparoscopic hernias and laparoscopic cholecystectomies.

The Endoscopy Unit held within the Day Surgery Unit has the capability to carry out a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures including Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio-pancreatograpy (ERCP).  It also has “state of the art” facilities for processing the flexible endoscopes used throughout the hospital.

The department continually receives positive patient feedback on the nursing care within the unit; this top quality care is complimented by an incredibly efficient patient journey.  The unit was recently commended by CHKS (Caspe Healthcare Knowledge System)  “The Day Surgery Unit is a commendable service, with a multi-professional approach to day surgery, and a well supported, educated and dedicated team.”

All surgical patients are offered a post discharge telephone call, where the nurse that looked after the patient follows up with them after the patients have been discharged home, usually the next working day.
