Anthonia Okorom
The aim of palliative care is to achieve the best possible quality of life for a person with a life threatening illness. It also provides a support system for family and carers during the patient’s journey. The service also acts as a direct link for the continuing care of our patients in the community by setting up and liaising with local palliative care services.
At London Bridge Hospital, the Palliative Care Service is provided by Anthonia Okorom. The service provides counselling, support and help with the transfer of patients to community palliative teams or hospices with the support of a Consultant in Palliative Medicine (Dr David Feuer).
The London Bridge Hospital Palliative Care Service has been recognised recently by winning the 2006/7 Independent Healthcare Award for Nursing Practice and the 2007 International Journal of Palliative Nursing Awards for Service Development.
