The purpose-built Physiotherapy Department is located within London Bridge Hospital, where an internationally renowned team of Sports Physicians and consultants are also based. Recognised by all major insurance companies, all the physiotherapists working in the Physiotherapy Department are Chartered and HPC Registered with post-graduate specialist skills in manual therapy and sports injuries.

With a particular focus on sports injury, the City Sports Clinic offers a comprehensive physiotherapy facility incorporating the following services:

Physiotherapy at 37degrees:

London Bridge Hospital now have Physiotherapy consulting rooms at 37degrees (The City Sport's Clinic, located on the Riverside), these consulting rooms are located to the left of reception in the newly refurbished Medical Centre. There are two treatment rooms with full access to the equipment in the main gym below. These rooms are staffed by the same Physiotherapists as our main clinic in the hospital. This is ideal for those who attend the gym or work/live in the surrounding area

Manipulation and Mobilisation Techniques

These can be used to enhance pain relief and restore movement and function in all joints.

Postural Advice

All our physiotherapists are able to advise you on appropriate workstation set up ensuring you do not aggravate your condition with poor posture.

Soft Tissue and Sport Injuries

Our specialist skills in the treatment and early rehabilitation of sports injuries ensure a prompt return to fitness for both recreational and elite sports people.

Gymnasium

Our gym contains the latest state-of-the-art equipment including high performance treadmills, cycles, rowing ergometer, pilates reformer, weight stations and specialist rehabilitation equipment.

Isokinetic Testing and Evaluation

Comprehensive strength testing, including detailed printouts and analysis of specific muscle groups. This provides excellent assessment of function as well as being a useful rehabilitation tool and providing a regular update on progress as it occurs.

Clinical Pilates

Many of our physiotherapists are qualified to teach pilates as part of a treatment programme.

UVB Phototherapy

Dermatological conditions such as psoriasis can be effectively treated using our specialized narrowband UVB unit.

Onward referrals

Should you require additional diagnostic tests such as x-ray and MRI, or onward referral to a specialist physician or surgeon, the Physiotherapy Clinic is able to offer you the convenience of direct access to associated specialties at London Bridge Hospital.
An internationally renowned team of Sports Physicians and Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeons also operates from the hospital.

Movement Analysis

The team have available the Dartfish computer programme and video camera to analyse movement patterns and technique. This can help to identify faults and hence guide  specific rehabilitation, as well as giving you the opportunity to visualise your progress. Also provided if required is bike analysis on our turbo-trainer and run analysis on the treadmill.

Acupuncture

Many of the Physiotherapists have post-graduate training in Acupuncture as a pain-relief modality or for the treatment of trigger points, which can be used as an adjunct to treatment.

In-patient treatment

Our physiotherapy team provides treatment for patients who have undergone a wide range of procedures including cardiac, orthopaedic and neurological surgery. Patients receive appropriate treatment and rehabilitation and, in preparation for their discharge, are given advice and a programme of exercises. Local patients may then continue physiotherapy on an out-patients basis.
