Speech and Language Therapy is associated with communication disorders. The London Bridge Hospital offer a service dedicated to speech and therapy treatment as outlined below:
Speech and Language Therapy is for patients with:
- Head and Neck Cancer
- Neurological communication problems
- Swallowing deficits
- Tracheostomy management
- Voice disorders
Patients may be seen as either inpatients or outpatients at London Bridge Hospital and will receive an initial assessment and recommendations for therapy.
Therapy may consist of exercises to improve muscle function, voice, swallowing or language problems, practicing the use of compensatory strategies, family education or a combination of the above.
Patients with complex voice or swallowing problems may also be seen in conjunction with an Ear, Nose and Throat Consultant for assessment.
The use of Videofluroscopy or Fibreoptic Endoscopic Examination of Swallowing is available for swallowing assessments when required.
